Lexington approves global warming resolution
Lexington Town Meeting members have expressed strong concern about the effects of global warming by voting to approve the Lexington Global Warming Action Coalition’s citizen article on global warming.
The resolution outlined the threats to the world’s health, environment and economy and cited the consensus among climate scientists that global climate change is poised to escalate if we don’t reduce our carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
As a result of the vote, the Board of Selectmen will petition the president and our senators and representatives in Washington, and the governor and state legislators to enact legislation that will significantly reduce carbon emissions and create rapid development of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
